The victory saw United stretch their lead at the top of the table to eight points ahead of Arsenal's match against Blackburn in Saturday's late kick-off.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said his side had shown championship-winning pedigree by coming back to take all three points.

West Ham had looked to be on course for a deserved victory after two early penalties from Mark Noble fired the Londoners into a 2-0 lead at Upton Park against a woeful United side.

But Rooney spearheaded a dramatic United transformation in the second half, curling in a superb free-kick on 65 minutes to throw the leaders a lifeline before levelling with a rasping low shot eight minutes later.

The comeback was complete on 78 minutes when fullback Fabio Da Silva charged down the right flank and whipped a ball back into the box.

The Brazilian's pull back grazed West Ham defender Matthew Upson on the arm and referee Lee Mason had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Rooney duly stepped up to slam in the penalty before substitute Javier Hernandez completed the scoring with a close range effort on 84 minutes.

Defeat was desperately hard on the Hammers, who had protested angrily after Mason failed to send off United captain Nemanja Vidic.

The Serbian defender was lucky to stay on the pitch after hauling down Demba Ba shortly before half-time, receiving only a yellow card instead.

Ferguson later admitted Vidic had been fortunate not to see red.

"He could have been sent off for that," Ferguson said. "He got a lucky break. It would have been harsh but he could have been sent off."

Grant also felt Vidic should have gone.

"He (Vidic) was the last man, so if it is a foul it would be a red card. I need to see it again," Grant said.

A few minutes into the second half Vidic again breathed a sigh of relief after escaping a second yellow for a clumsy tackle from behind on Ba.

The defeat halted West Ham's recent revival and saw them slip into the relegation zone once again on goal difference.

The history of April fools day 

It was around a thousand years ago (711 A.D) that Spain was ruled by Muslims. And the Muslim power in Spain was so strong that it couldn't be destroyed. The Christians of the west wished to wipe out Islam from all parts of the world and they did succeed to quite an extent. But when they tried to eliminate Islam in Spain and conquer it, they failed. They tried several times but never succeeded.
The unbelievers then sent their spies in Spain to study the Muslims there and find out what was the power they possessed and they found that their power was TAQWA. The Muslims of Spain were not just Muslims but they were practicing Muslims. They not only read the Quran but also acted upon it.
When the Christians found the power of the Muslims they started thinking of strategies to break this power. So they started sending alcohol and cigarettes to Spain free of cost. This technique of the west worked out and it started weakening the faith of the Muslims in particular the young generation of Spain. The result was that by 1492 A.D the Catholics of the west wiped out Islam and conquered the entire Spain bringing an end to the EIGHT HUNDRED LONG YEARS' RULE OF THE MUSLIMS in Spain. The last fort of the Muslims to fall, was Grenada (Gharnatah), which was on the 1st of April.

After Spain was fully conqured by the christians the christian ruler wasnt just sastified with his victory he wanted something more so he Lied to the Muslim community that there is a special place for all muslim where all of them will be allowed to to pratice islam freely a very huge ship was prepared for muslims and a very large number of muslims left for that place as mentioned by the christian ruler when the ship was in the middle of the sea there were explosions made by gaurds and they escaped through saftey boats,muslim were left on the big ship drowning many muslims got maytred in that false trick.

From that year onwards, every year they celebrate April fools day on the 1st of April, celebrating the day, they made a fool of the Muslims. They did not make a fool of the Muslim army at Gharnatah only, but of the whole Muslim Ummah. We, the Muslims, were fooled by the unbelievers.
